Parley Privacy Policy

Effective August 3, 2026

Parley is a bring-your-own-key AI chat app for iOS. It has no developer-operated backend: we run no servers, require no account, and collect no data about you. Everything described below happens either on your device or between your device and a service you choose and configure.

What we collect

Nothing. Parley contains no analytics, no tracking, no advertising SDKs, and no telemetry of any kind. We never see your conversations, your API keys, or anything else.

What stays on your device

Data shared with third parties at your direction

When you send a message, its content (and the conversation context needed to answer) goes to the AI provider you selected. Parley supports:

When you explicitly arm web search for a message, that message's text (capped at 50 words / 400 characters, with code blocks stripped) is sent to Brave Search using your own Brave API key. Brave documents query retention of up to 90 days. Search excerpts are used to ground the answer; Parley stores only the source title, domain, and URL alongside the reply — never the raw excerpts.

Deletion

Swipe to delete any conversation in the app. Deleting the app removes all conversations, settings, and keys from your device. Because we operate no servers, there is no server-side copy to request deletion of. For data sent to a provider you configured, deletion is governed by that provider's own policy and tools.

Children

Parley is rated 17+ and requires an age declaration on first launch. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone (of any age).

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date.
